Lewisian Sterling Silver Drop Earrings
Hand-mined and polished Scottish Lewisian set in a pair of 925 sterling silver petite oval frame earrings. Comes beautifully presented in a Two Skies presentation box with colourful 'Lewisian' story card. Earrings measures roughly 16x10x5mm, not including sterling silver ear hooks.
This listing is for one (1) pair of earrings. We have several pairs of these earrings, all so similar that we felt the photos represented all fairly - therefore you may not receive the actual pair in the photographs, but one very similar, of no less quality or size than the ones pictured. The Lewisian in each earring is of a similar shade of red, although it will display its own unique subtle characteristics.
At Two Skies, we think that "To own a piece of Scottish Lewisian is to own a piece of Scotland itself. By purchasing this beautiful piece you are connected not just to Scotland but to its age old traditions and folklore."
Lewisian comes from the Isles of Lewis, Harris and North Highlands. It is collected from the ancient bedrock of Scotland and is one of the oldest rocks in the world, up to 3 billion years old (3,000,000,000 years!). It is a unique composition of many minerals including Feldspar, Epidote and Quartz, all of which are part of the "Lewisian Gneiss" complex. Lewisian has been treasured for thousands of years by the clans of Scotland. It was used by the Megalithic cultures to construct monuments such as the Callanish stone circle on the Isle of Lewis
