Arthur's Seat Jasper Sterling Silver Ring
Natural mottled Jasper, the material for this ring, was collected from Scotland's famous extinct volcano, Arthur's Seat, in Edinburgh. This sought after area for gemstone rocks is off-limits now, therefore making this rare Scottish jewellery!
Sterling silver band and setting. Gemstone measures approximately 20x13mm. Ring band is 3.5mm wide at rear. This stunning ring can cleverly span ring sizes O-V (UK) or 7¼-10½ (US) due to the cleverly designed band. Ring will be sent in a Two Skies ring box, ready for gifting.
Please check with a ruler if uncertain of scale. As setting adjustable rings can sometimes be a delicate procedure, we are happy to set the size for you before we sent it out to you - just let us know in the 'free gift message' field or at checkout.
RESIZING ADJUSTABLE RINGS
It is quite easy to change the size of the ring yourself as long as you go slowly and are careful, manipulating the inner area of the band with warm fingers, rather than pulling at the end sections – this will help keep a round shape too. This ring will span quite a few sizes without compromising the original design concept. Once set, it is advisable not to resize again, as silver is quite soft and can become brittle and snap if bent too frequently.
Every year thousands of people make the walk up Arthur's Seat, to the highest point on the grass covered remains of an ancient volcano which last erupted 350 million years ago. The views of Edinburgh from Arthur's Seat are spectacular, and well worth the climb! Although origins of the name are uncertain, some claim there are links between Edinburgh and the legendary King Arthur, and that Arthur's Seat may well have been the site of Camelot. It has also been proposed that the name was a corruption of Àrd-na-Said, implying the "Height of Arrows", which over the years became Arthur's Seat, perhaps via "Archer's Seat".
